SUNDAY DINNER

Posted under Blog

My Grandmother was not very happy with my Mom a few Sundays ago. We all go over to Grandma’s for Sunday dinner quite often. It seems that Grandma wanted to know why my Mom was not feeling too well lately, and why she was having heartburn. After much badgering, she got Mom to admit that she has been eating out two or three time a week because she has been too busy to cook a proper meal. We all know Grandma is a stickler for eating right, getting exercise and plenty of sleep. Mom has also been buying OTC meds to help with her heartburn, and with her problems getting to sleep. Grandma told my Mom to stop with the nonsense and get a grip. She says Mom should think about what she is doing to her health and how it will eventually affect me and Dad. Mom told Grandma that she would think about it. Mom has missed coming to Grandma’s for a few Sundays, but finally showed up for dinner. She looked better, Grandma said, and was not as irritable either. Mom said she has scaled back on work and is trying to get back on track for her health.

GETTING COLD FEET

Posted under Blog

Sometime I take using home security for granted. I will leave the house without even remembering to set the alarm. Half of the time I do not even bother to close the door that goes into the garage. All somebody would have to do is lift the garage door and they would be able to walk right into our house. I guess I just do not think that we live in that dangerous of a neighborhood. I hate to say it, but most of the people that live around here would not need to break into somebody’s house, although I suppose that we are not totally invincible. My friend’s parent’s house was broken into during her wedding. Luckily enough, the alarm went off and scared away the would-be burglars. How horrible would that be? That is the only thing that could ruin a wedding night, aside from the bride or the groom getting cold feet. After I heard that story, I have been more careful to make sure that I take the time to set the alarm before I leave the house. Besides, I always get yelled at by one of my roommates if I do not set the alarm.

MY SPECIALTY

The personal injury is the physical damage caused to an individual due to the negligence or carelessness of another party. The personal injury attorneys work towards getting compensation for their client from the opposite party. They also help in preparing case to acquire compensation from the insurance company. There are several Personal Injury Attorneys in Illinois. Generally there are legal firms in Illinois that host several of the qualified attorneys specialized in the cases of personal injury. The laws governing the cases of personal injuries are very complex thus legal experts specialized particularly in personal injuries. Choosing among several attorneys available in Illinois can become a difficult task. Thus one of the major tools in making the choice can be the Internet. However before appointing any of the attorneys it must be made sure that they have a god track record. The next thing to be taken under consideration is the trial cost quoted by each of the legal firm. The services promised and the trial cost offered by each of the legal firms should be compared so as to zero in on any one of the legal firms for the attorney to fight the personal injury case.

YOU SEE THE ADS

Posted under Blog

You see the ads running, mostly at night, about the cost of lasik. Some of the ads are funny. Not so much for this, but for other things. In fact, sometimes when I can't sleep I'll turn on the TV and start watching some of those infomercials. For some people they have the effect of putting them right to sleep. For me, because they are so corny and funny, they wake me up. Then I get some coffee, then something to eat, then I'm up for the duration. I'm ready to crash by the time I get to work, I'm so tired. I'll have to get out of the habit of doing this. Tara is forever asking me what I'm doing. She can't believe I'd skip sleep to watch these goofy things. I can't either. But somebody is watching, and buying. Otherwise, they wouldn't exist. I've even purchased a few things off of these infomercials. One thing I got was supposed to transfer all your LPs to digital music. I found out that it didn't work so well. It was a turntable. And you ran some cables to your PC and with their software it was supposed to create a MP3 file. Most of the time it didn't work quite right.

LITTLE BROTHER

Posted under Blog

Tara was shocked that her brother could get juvenile diabetes. He was 7 years old. She asked her dad if he really believed the doctors, and he said he did. I hopped online and looked up a few things, and I guess you can get it at any age, though it's not so common so early in life. But he was just a day or so away from dying, so it is a good thing he got treatment when he did. Of course all sorts of horrible things come to mind with this type of diagnosis, but the doctors didn't seem as worried as Tara. Her dad said that if her brother takes the insulin and watches his diet and is careful about monitoring for any numbness that he should be okay. I heard him this on the phone. He was joking. I should be good at least until 100. Tara doesn't have much family left, so I know that she is upset. Probably more upset than her brother. I've met him a couple of times over the years. He seems like a nice guy, but his living in Maine with his mom means that he is kind of on his own. Tara made me promise that we would go out and see him. I said that was fine, as long as we at least wait until May to go, when it will be warmer.

THIEVES

Posted under Blog

One of the things that was completely ransacked with the break in was our closet. The thieves tore everything out of it and tossed it every which way. Sue had had some things hidden back there, and those things were taken. We saw this a great opportunity to re organize things, so I went about finding a closet organizer. This was harder than I thought. Organizing a closet now a days has become an industry. I went to the hardware store first, and they had at least five kits to chose from. Then I went to the warehouse, and there were even more selections. You could have multiple shelving and clothes racks upper and lower. And a place for shoes. There were at least three type of materials, plastic and wood among them, and a quite a number of colors. I didn't know where to start. I know what I have to get organized and I knew how it should look, but Sue had her own stuff and I couldn't get a picture of how that should look. I started taking pictures with my phone and sending them, but gave up. Sue would call with questions. Finally I told Sue that she would have to come out with me. That was the only way we could make a choice.

SOCIETY AND WEIGHT

Posted under Blog

In today’s society, our brains get accustomed to the sedentary nature of our 21st century lifestyle, which is why it can seem so difficult to get moving, to get out there and make the changes we need develop a healthy weight loss lifestyle.

For individuals struggling to lose excess pounds, studies have shown a direct correlation between eating healthy and weight loss. Modifying the diet can definitely contribute to a healthy weight loss. Are you not sure how to create a healthy weight loss diet plan? In order to create a diet plan, you need to learn the basics of eating right. If we compare the Mediterranean-style diet with the average American diet, we'll find that the average Mediterranean-style diet contains less saturated fat than the average American diet. At the same time statistics show that the incidence of heart disease in Mediterranean countries is lower than in the United States.

Healthy weight loss simply means knowing what you should eat, what you shouldn't, and getting a little exercise in your day. If you could reduce your calorie intake over time you will lose weight and cut the risk of health problems.

One key to integrating changes in your diet, whether with the goal of losing weight, or simply being healthier, is to add variety. The key to healthy cooking is to decrease the fat and calories while at the same time adding nutritional value to the food. Today, we have made nutrition a science; we think that our experts know the secrets to healthy eating. And for the final word on going overboard with calorie restriction, recent research found that even though mice will live up to 50% longer by eating less, humans don't. You’ll quickly find that your new eating habits have helped you to lose weight. Balance your treats with healthy choices. A much wider variety of healthy foods are available to us today than ever before.
There are ways to weight loss, which almost anyone can do without tossing out their favorite food or spending every spare minute in the gym.

Example: I had a major amount of weight to lose and researched methods on the web. • Starting this minute – keep fresh, cold water with you at all times and make a habit of drinking based on this formula: drink the amount of water in ounces equal to half your body weight in pounds - and include moving your body around regularly - and you'll find yourself living life "normally" every day in a way that will keep you at a healthy weight.

Calorie-free diet sodas, like Diet Coke™, Diet Pepsi™ or Diet-7 Up™ seem very good for weight loss or maintenance, compared to their sugar-saturated counterparts. Weight loss needs very good dedication on the part of the person who diets. Weight loss drugs should be the last resort you go for.

Weight loss in essence means reduction in the body mass. Sodium and other preservatives found in most commercial foods today are not the best options for a healthy lifestyle.

If you happen to overeat, don’t spend a great deal of time sulking. When the doctors prescribe pills for the patients, they advice the patients to spend some time walking around. People who are overweight or obese generally lack the determination to engage in active physical activities.

Indeed, many people feel so negatively about exercise, experts often advise using the term 'physical activity' instead. It's obvious that the word 'exercise' has more than four letters, but many of us will agree it sounds like a four-letter word.
